If you have recently joined the LGPS, please find information in the current member (paying in) area of the website
When you join the scheme your employer should:
- give you access to The Brief Guide to the LGPS (PDF, 583.9 KB)
- ask you to complete the joiner pack
The joiner pack contains 2 forms:
- A Personal Details Declaration form. This enables you to give us your personal details and to express an interest in a transfer of previous pension rights. A transfer can only be requested within 12 months of joining the scheme.
- An Expression of wish for payment of death grant form. This enables you to let us know who you wish your death grant lump sum to be paid to. As the administering authority, we have absolute discretion over who receives any lump sum death grant but it is helpful if you let us know your wishes. A non taxable lump sum death grant of 3 times your annual assumed pensionable pay is paid no matter how long you have been a member of the LGPS, provided you are under age 75 at the date of death.
