Normal pension age

A scheme member’s Normal Pension Age (NPA) depends on the date they stopped paying into the scheme and, in some cases, the membership they hold. NPA can be summarised as follows:

  • If you stopped paying into the scheme after 31 March 2014, your NPA is linked to your State Pension age (SPa), but is at least age 65. Find out your SPa on the GOV.UK website
  • If you stopped paying into the scheme between 1 April 1998 and 31 March 2014, your NPA is 65. It may be earlier for some members
  • If you stopped paying into the scheme before 31 March 1998, your NPA is between 60 and 65.
